Janice Dawson is Founder of JD Bridal Hair & Make Up. She is a Freelance Wedding Hairstylist & Make-Up Artist, with 26 years of experience in bridal hair design. Janice trained with Edinburgh's top stylist Raymond Edinburgh in Morningside,  obtaining SVQ Level 2. On moving to Chelmsford in Essex, she managed a salon & trained young apprentices. She then moved to Oxford working for the biggest hairdressing company in the world, Regis, obtaining NVQ Level 3 & teaching a NVQ Level 2 night school class at Oxford & Cherwell College for mature students. On moving back to Edinburgh, she continued working for Regis & worked as a bridal trainer for the Wedding Hair Training Academy within Salon Services, plus gained her Make-Up Qualification.

In 2013, Janice wrote & produced her own teaching manuals for beginners and advanced hairstyling training courses, offering this service to independent hairdressers, collage students & make-up artists. She is also qualified in a range of Alternative Therapy's to master level & is happy to provide Reiki should you need to relax on your wedding day.

Since starting the company in 2006, Janice has been joined by a handful of excellent hairdressers & make-up artist who she trained personally to work the same high standard as herself.

Please be reassured that it is the company name that deals with all bookings. We work most days, as weddings are not just a weekend event. When you live in the wonderful City of Edinburgh, gorgeous brides get married any day of the week. For 2024 we are celebrating our 18th year of trading together.

                               

We take great pride & pleasure in being part of a bride’s special day & we are extremely passionate about our job. Over the years we have styled hair for hundreds of brides from all over the world. Most of our clientele are from the USA, Canada, China, London & of course Scotland. We are one of Scotland's top hairstylists & make-up consultants. We are recommended out by a number of wedding venues. We travel far & wide, seeing some of the most amazing hotels, estates & castles in Scotland. We have styled hair for all walks of life from Royalty, TV Celebrity's and Cat walk models to the girl next door.

Wedding hair styling is an art form. Having a creative mind, vision & the practical experience is all you need to achieve any desired look. We can reproduce or create any styles you have in mind & love to research fashion with new up-&-coming styles. Most of our hair products are are vegan.

The main make-up range we use is Mii – professional spa and salon make-up from Gerrard International, London. Please feel free to look at their versatile range on their website www.miicosmetics.com. This range is not tested on animals and all products are vegan. We are frequently praised for out ability to create a make-up look of natural beauty.
